Full-Height Shutters
One panel covering the whole opening. The cleanest look, and the standard choice for most rooms.
A permanent architectural fitting, built to the opening and hung on its own frame.
Shutters are the only window treatment we install that behaves like part of the building rather than something hung in front of it. They are built to the measured opening, mounted in their own frame, and they stay with the house.
That changes the economics. A shutter costs more up front than any blind or shade, but it does not need replacing when the fabric fades or a mechanism wears out, and it is the one window covering that reliably reads as an upgrade to a buyer. If you intend to stay in the house, or you are fitting out a property you want to hold its value, shutters are usually the cheaper decision measured over enough years.
Style governs how the window divides. Material governs where in the house it can go.

Upper and lower panels that open independently. You can close the bottom for privacy from the street while leaving the top open for light — ideal in front-facing rooms.
Covering only the lower portion of the window. Common in kitchens and dining rooms facing a sidewalk, where you want privacy at eye level and full daylight above.
Without louvres, for a traditional, fully blocking panel. Rare, but correct in some period properties.
The premium material: light, stable, and strong enough for tall panels without sagging. Takes a painted or stained finish.
An engineered core that will not swell or warp. The right specification for bathrooms, kitchens, and any room with sustained humidity.
More than any blind or shade, because each panel is built to your opening and hung on its own frame. The variables are size, material, and how the window divides. Your consultation ends with an itemised written quote, and we are happy to price a shutter against a comparable blind so you can see the difference plainly.
Longer than blinds and shades, because they are manufactured to your measurements rather than cut from stock. We confirm the exact timeline in writing at the point of order, and we would rather quote a realistic date than a flattering one.
They are generally regarded as an improvement that stays with the property rather than a furnishing you take with you, which is part of why buyers respond to them. We would not claim a specific percentage — anyone who quotes you one is guessing.
We do not recommend it. Sustained humidity will eventually swell and warp real timber regardless of the finish. Composite or vinyl gives you the same appearance and will not move, so that is what we specify for bathrooms and laundry rooms.
Yes. Arches, bays, and angled openings are all achievable, and shutters often suit an awkward window better than fabric because each section is built to its own shape. These take longer and cost more, and we will measure carefully before quoting.
